Letter from the EVPA DEI Administrator

Dear EVPA Colleagues,

I am honored to serve as your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Administrator, where I am responsible for providing leadership for the strategic planning, development and implementation of the overarching diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda, initiatives, and strategic plan in close partnership with you and your teams.

Together we will infuse and embed DEI principles and practices, streamline initiatives and activities, and expand DEI education and programming for all units reporting to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Administration (EVPA) in alignment with the MSU strategic initiatives and our EVPA strategic priorities. We are focused on delivering outstanding service, providing an excellent experience, and engaging in continuous improvement. Everything is about an experience – how people feel before, during and after interacting with our services – therefore, we must instill a culture that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI.

We are currently building the infrastructure for the EVPA Office of DEI with a vision for all to engage in meaningful contributions, demonstrating cultural competence to collectively advance a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. We have three pillars that anchor our work to drive organizational excellence – workforce, workplace, and community – focused on professional and organizational development, stakeholder experience, and outreach and engagement where we provide consultation, learning solutions, and build connection. Our values are centered on building a community that CARES with every experience and interaction – communication, appreciation, respect, empathy, and sensitivity.

As part of this shared effort, we will work to listen and learn who we are as individual units, where we are as a collective workforce, and identify a path forward to achieve our goals together.  We are excited for your partnership and contribution toward our DEI efforts, goals, and initiatives toward a better normal.

Sincerely,

Tina Alonzo(she/her/hers)

EVPA DEI Administrator
