Climate Survey

46.6% Completion Rate

We are so proud of the EVPA portfolio for completing the survey overall at a rate of 41%! We are dedicated to moving forward with the action planning efforts and addressing the survey results with a narrower scope.

Next Steps

We will begin rolling out EVPA-wide results in January 2023, followed by unit-wide results and then unit-specific results. We will also begin assembling the EVPA Advisory Team in early 2023 to help guide and inform action planning, strategy and enterprise-wide priorities. Stay tuned for updates.

Advisory Team

In preparation to address the EVPA Climate Survey results through action planning efforts, we put together an EVPA Advisory Team. This team will work collaboratively to share and collect feedback and input from you that will guide the EVPA strategy, and support unit-level plans. Learn more about the advisory team.

Results Webinar

On Wednesday, March 15th, Karen Clark from the Office for Survey Research provided a high-level overview of overall portfolio results ahead of sharing unit-specific data in March. A recording of the webinar is available. *Must have MSU email address to access.

Do you have input on action planning efforts? Access our Action Planning Feedback Form.

Additional Information

The reports sometimes use technical language or assumes background knowledge. Below are some definitions of a few.

  • A Likert scale assumes that the strength/intensity of an attitude is linear, i.e. on a continuum from strongly agree to strongly disagree, and makes the assumption that attitudes can be measured.
  • The mean is the average of a group of numbers. The mean is calculated from the sum of all the values divided by the total number of values. For example, the mean of 1, 2 and 3, is 2. The sum of the three numbers is 6, which is then divided by 3.
  • Significant change is considered to be a response change of 0.10 or more.
  • Verbatim means the exact word-for-word text is being used.

The data collection process (distributing the survey) is confidential, meaning the researcher (MSU Office for Survey Research) has a list of participants. The Office for Survey Research (OSR) stores this information securely and adheres to local, state, and federal laws to protect respondent’s confidentiality. When respondents submit their survey, the data is submitted anonymously, meaning any identifiable information (I.e., email address) is not part of the dataset.  The Office for Survey Research will NOT share any confidential information with anyone within your unit, the EVPA or anyone else at MSU. No one except OSR will know who completed the survey and who did not, and OSR is contractually forbidden to share such information. Confidentiality is defined between the recipient and OSR.

Upon completion of the data collection, the database of employees is destroyed. The remaining data will then be analyzed by the Office for Survey Research who will provide EVPA with a written summary of the results.  All results will be done in aggregate format, and no results will be shared that could incidentally identify any person or group of persons.
