Subject Line: Celebrating a Special Week – Thank You for All You Do!
Team,
Hello… Hello... It has been a couple of weeks since I sent a note. Ok, it’s been five weeks – but who is counting (except Chelsey Eimer-Mason 😊)? This is one of my favorite weeks of the year because more than 10,000 students will cross the stage to receive their degree from Michigan State. Their families will come to East Lansing filled with pride and joy as they watch their child or family member graduate with an undergraduate degree or be hooded from a graduate or professional school. They are now Spartans for life.
In our positions, we have the incredible opportunity to change lives and help make someone’s memories even more special. We help to transform lives, and the work we do support our students’ journeys to this day of achievement. I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for everything you do to make this day possible — recognizing that it looks different for each department, team, and person.
You may have mentored a student worker, ensured the lights stayed on, kept the water running, the internet connected, or the food served. You may have cleaned and maintained our spaces, kept our community safe, processed hiring paperwork, administered benefits, supported student health insurance, purchased critical equipment or furniture, or simply offered a smile to a passing face — the list goes on. Everything you do individually, and we do collectively, matters.
Many of our students are the first in their families to graduate from college. That achievement is a milestone not just for them, but for their entire family. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do at MSU. Thank you for being part of that impact.
As we transition into the summer months, I hope you’ll find time to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. I know the work does not stop — and for many of you, it might even speed up — but it’s still equally important to find the time to replenish.
My next favorite time of year is just around the corner — when our first-year students move into the residence halls in August, full of dreams and potential.
Thank you, again, for all that you do to make MSU such a special place!
GO GREEN,
V
