Here come the Spartans: Welcoming the Class of 2029!
Published On: 08/11/2025
Team,
In the weeks ahead, the Class of 2029 will arrive on campus, filled with anticipation and energy to begin their Spartan journey. They carry with them the hopes and dreams of their families. They will explore classrooms to discover their career paths, meet new people who may become lifelong friends, or even life partners, and take part in the many opportunities our university offers. Over time, they may cheer at a sporting event, enjoy art and entertainment, join a club or student organization, study abroad, or complete one or two internships.
We are the engine of the Spartan journey. Our work touches every aspect of their experience. We maintain a beautiful campus environment, employ students within our departments, provide the technology tools that support learning, ensure a safe environment, and house and feed our community. And we do much more every single day.
The past seven weeks have been difficult. We have said goodbye to colleagues, friends and neighbors as positions were eliminated or left unfilled. We have adjusted to operating with fewer resources, knowing that each change affects our teams and the services we provide. These moments have tested us, both professionally and personally, but I have also seen the resilience, creativity and care that define what it means to be a Spartan.
This past February, MSU turned 170. Our history is filled with both high points and challenges. Through it all, we have survived and thrived because Spartans have always shown up and stepped up. It is who we are, and it is our character. I have faith in you and in our collective ability to deliver outstanding Spartan experiences for the Class of 2029 and for every class before and after.
Go Green!
