Revamping Procurement Practices at MSU

Aligned with the university's 2030 Strategic Plan, the Office of EVPA is exploring opportunities to be better stewards of university resources; enhance customer service and agility; modernize our systems, processes and policies; and to comport ourselves to the highest standards expected of those who are privileged to expend public funds.

As a first step and focusing on procurement, Steven A. Melnyk, a Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management with extensive experience in procurement change projects such as this will be leading the steering committee alongside David Frayer, guiding the revamp of MSU's procurement. Other members include:

  • Jared Ambrosier (Chief Procurement Officer, State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget)
  • Kay Connelly (Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation)
  • Kelly Lynch (Supply Chain Management Faculty, formerly Stellantis Director of Purchasing & Supplier Quality, Operations & Integration)
  • Kristin Demir (Associate Vice President, Chief Procurement Officer) Jim Roberts (CEO, Jim Roberts Enterprises LLC, Minority Business Leader, MSU Alumni)
